These beads look like fruit or candy. Can I eat them? TOP Depends on your teeth. But, seriously, beads are meant to be shown and they certainly won't be seen while they go through your digestive system. I suppose that could be a very (VERY) subtle way of wearing beads. I recommend wearing them on the outside of your outside skin. Maybe I'm a traditionalist. What if I'm not completely satisfied? TOP Well, I think you might want to see a personal coach or other counselor. Really, you don't like your beads? I would be sad except I like them. So, return them with a self-addressed stamped envelope and I will give your money back. I broke my beads. What should I do? TOP
Send the 'remains' back with $10 and I'll remake them into new beads. What shipping method do you use? TOP
The good old United States Postal system for now. Do you do custom beads? TOP
Color? Probably. I use Bullseye Glass pretty much exclusively (except when I recycle some candy dish or other art glass object). So...if you find some colors on their webside you want, let me know and we'll work something out; Not all colors come through with this technique. Shape? I may be able to accommodate, but it takes about 6 weeks from when the wet clay is formed into a mold until I can produce a bead. We'll work something out. How do I keep that cool shine on my beads? TOP Wear them against your skin. The mold formed beads need oil to have a nice glow. If you wear them on the outside of clothing most of the time, you may need to shine them occasionally with some petroleum jelly or your favorite scented oil. That's how they do it in Ghana. Why "Fred the Shed"? TOP Simple. I had a garden shed built to be the place where I worked. Now, you can't call a garden shed a "studio". (Unless it is heated and airconditioned, which it isn't.) Too high falooten. But on a farm with multiple outbuildings, calling one of them a "shed" is like saying "see that tree?" in a forest. You have to be specific. So it needed a name. It was named "Fred". Really, what else could you have named it? Google "Fred the Shed". Not much competition there, though that wasn't what I was thinking of at the time. I just needed a name. What's the meaning of life? Why are we hear? TOP
Tough one there. Try my poem, "Particle Theory" for starters. Then, search on, Pilgrim.
Particle Theory
That afterlife we’d die for
May just actually exit
But not for weekend worshippers
In some suburban heaven.
Just suppose
That thoughts consist of particles.
(Their atomic weight:
This universe’s lust
To see itself.)
Thus, like our flesh
That dissipates
Rejoins the water and the soil
Wafts into the air
That others breathe,
So, too, our thoughts
Break down and scatter.
They continue
Not as robed musicians
But recombinant in many minds.
Say,
Half a million spiders
Spinning webs
To catch the flying dreams
Of Socrates. |
